During an emergency shipyard repair, a large bulk carrier required the immediate replacement of a custom-fabricated, 3-meter-long S-curved rudder hydraulic pipe. Due to its extreme length and irregular, curved geometry, standard air express couriers (DHL/FedEx) flatly refused to accept the cargo. Every single day the vessel remained idle, the shipowner faced tens of thousands of dollars in charter losses.
Upon receiving the request, our dedicated Maritime OBC team sprang into action: we applied multi-layered high-density bubble wraps to prevent even a 1-millimeter deflection; secured emergency oversized baggage clearance in the aircraft’s bulk compartment; and arranged a standby, customized extended Sprinter Van at the destination airport. Within 2 hours, the van arrived directly at the shipyard quayside, delivering this 3-meter steel giant directly to the vessel’s gangway.
